Some said he looked like a ninja. Others, that he was dressed for church. Either way, this kid from Atlanta righteously deserves to be hailed a Christmas Hero.

At the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s cafeteria, Jerry Hatcher Jr., age 8, hid behind the counter with his hand full of cash and a smiling face. He would then surprise the people willing to pay for their breakfast with these magic words: “Merry Christmas! It’s on me”.

After many people asked, he finally explained the “why”: Jerry likes volunteering, he does so mainly for the elder, and in the previous weeks he told his family about doing something bigger. His father asked him “Do you want to give up a PlayStation to buy meals for strangers?” And Jerry didn’t hesitate. ”I wanted to repay the people there as much as I could for what they’ve done to help my baby brother. If it wasn’t for them, he wouldn’t be here today,” Jerry said.

As more and more people heard about this wonderful kid paying for others’ breakfast, and realized he had a limited budget, some came down to the cafeteria and chipped in so that he continue with his good work. Others, like the the guys who fly the life-flight helicopter, in signs of admiration and retribution, offered him to visit the chopper. His answer “No, I have things to do here.” Just one word: AMAZING.

He bought breakfast for about 100 people. Their reaction was 100% gratitude and happiness. Some cried, some hugged him. One boy who had had brain surgery came down, and when he saw Jerry, his face lit up and he smiled sharing that bond that only children know.

A Christmas Hero, a real Santa, Jerry Hatcher Jr. became a real and inspiring model and example.
